[Gynaecological cancer and development of surgical infections].

The aim of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the appearance of surgical infections connected with the treatment of gynaecological cancer. We examined 2362 patients with gynaecological cancer for the period from 1990 till 2003. One thousand two hundred and twenty patients were with endometrial cancer, 1030 patients were with cervical cancer, 90 patients with ovarian cancer, and 22 patients with vulvar cancer. Infections appeared in 109 patients /9%/ with endometrial cancer, in 175 patients /17%/ with cervical cancer, in 12/14%/ patients with ovarian cancer and 3 patients /13%/ with vulvar cancer. According to our results the highest morbidity of surgical infections is connected with cervical cancer and the lowest morbidity with endometrial cancer.
